This write-up goes over the process of disabling the seat belt reminder chime on your Mustang and many other Ford vehicles. We do not advocate driving without your seatbelt!

Before beginning the steps below, make sure your parking brake is set, the transmission is in park for automatics or neutral for manuals, driver's belt is un-buckled, ignition is off, both doors are closed, and your headlights are off. Once all of these conditions are met, proceed with the following:
- Turn ignition to on position (do not start the engine)
- Wait 2 minutes for the seat belt safety light to go off
- (Steps 3-5 must be completed within 1 minute) Buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt three times, ending with the belt unbuckled
- Turn on your headlamps and then turn them off
- Buckle then unbuckle seatbelt three times, ending with the belt unbuckled (After this step, the seatbelt warning light will turn on for three seconds)
- Within 7 seconds after the seat belt light turns off, buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt
You'll know you've got it done correctly if the seatbelt warning light flashes four times per second for three seconds. To re-enable the chime, simply repeat the steps above.
