In this installment we go over the installation process of a rear diffuser on an 05-09 Mustang GT. We found the process to be rather simple. This is definitely a two-person job though.
Tools Required
- Standard socket set
- Standard open end wrench set
- Drill with 1/4" bit
- Another person
Raise the vehicle in the air and remove the two factory nuts located underneath the rear as shown in the image below. Do not discard the nuts as they will be used in the next step.

Next, use the long "L" bracket included with the diffuser and attach it to the open
stud using the factory nut (removed in step 1). Be sure the bottom of the “L” faces the rear of the car.

In the third step, you'll want to align the diffuser with the rear bumper. Do this by positioning the rear of the diffuser over the small lip that protrudes from the rear factory bumper. It helps to have one person hold it in place while you prepare for drilling.

While the diffuser is being held in place, take your 1/4" bit and drill through the four holes and into the factory bumper. Be sure that the diffuser is lined up correctly before final drilling. As you can see from the picture below, you are drilling through the diffuser holes in the rear bumper.

Now, attach the (4) M6 bolts with washers and nuts to secure the top of the diffuser to the rear bumper as shown below.

The final step is to attach the remaining M6 bolts to the "L" brackets you installed earlier at the bottom of the diffuser.

This is what the completed installation looks like on an 07 Mustang GT.
